Hehe, it's more art than comfort. It isn't that bad though. If it was really comfortable I would fall asleep instead of drawing.

love the fabric and legs
:iconjonsama:
The type of wood you see is called Diamond Willow. It has many other names, but I can't remember them. I chose the fabric because it's one of my favorite colours.

that looks very, very interesting. certainly an unusual architecture, where did you get the idea?

there are different types of wood in this, right? love the legs. looks like unique pieces of wood that you carved and polished.

and is it very comfortable? it looks like it :-)

a lovely piece

It's actually my first attempt. It isn't that comfortable, but it works. It also isn't the stablest chair. Still I like it. I don't know how I came up with the idea. I just did it. I would like to try and make it better. That's the way it is with all my work. Most of my paintings are painted over several times because I change my mind or understand how to make it better.
The wood used is walnut. The fabric is a color that is one of my favorites. The legs and sides of the chair are from a wood called diamond willow. It doesn't grow very large and is usually very twisted and has diamond shapes in the wood. They grow near water, but the harsher the conditions of their water source the more character they obtain. Unfortunately I think they've made a law that you can't cut them down. I never did cut down every tree that I saw. I like the dead or dying ones because they are the most beautiful. I'm not a tree hugger, but I do like to use wood that is aged. I don't like to cut down trees with out a good reason for doing so. New or living trees just art that beautiful under the bark and they still have a purpose. I like the wood that has aged and dried out in nature. I kind of feel like I'm giving it a new life in my art, haha.

it certainly adds personality to woodworkings. me, I don't like fir wood very much. it's so... common and smooth and boring. naturally grown and twisted organic shapes are a lot more exciting. the approach of not selecting a random piece of wood to get what you're going for but finding a piece and deciding the shape from there

I love wood
